KATHUA, AUGUST 12: The Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College (GDC) Ramkote, in collaboration with the NSS Unit & J&K AIDS Control Society, organized an awareness rally to sensitize students and the local community on the issue of HIV/AIDS.
The event was organized under the overall supervision of Principal of the college Dr Rakesh Kumar Koul.
As many as 60 students from BA semester Ist, 3rd and 5th actively participated in the rally, demonstrating their commitment towards generating awareness and promoting a responsible and healthy society. The rally passed through the local community of the adopted village of Ramkote, where students interacted with residents and spread awareness through slogans and messages. The enthusiastic participation of the students reflected the college’s commitment to community engagement and social responsibility.
Following the rally, the participating students visited the Breakfree Platform, where they were introduced to its awareness and support initiatives. Twenty students of BA semester Ist, 3rd and 5th also took a self-risk assessment test, which encouraged them to reflect on risk factors, make informed choices and develop greater awareness about their own well-being.
The programme provided students with an opportunity to combine learning with community outreach and highlighted the importance of awareness, prevention and responsible decision-making. Faculty present included Prof Pankaj Nandan, Prof Suresh Chander, Dr Sunil Singh, Krishan Singh and Ankush Kundral.
