DODA, MARCH 09: To celebrate the International Women’s Day and to inform the students about various academic options and careers ahead, the Women Development Cell and NSS Unit in collaboration with the Career Counseling Cell of Government Degree College Doda organised a one day workshop, today.
The programme was managed and coordinated by Dr. Jamsheed Ahmed Programme Officer NSS and Prof Upma Kumari Convener WDC under the guidance of Dr Attar Singh Kotwal Principal GDC Doda.
The program started with a formal welcome address by Dr. Jamsheed Ahmad which was followed by the presentation of bouquets to the guests by Prof Devinder Kumar and Prof Mansa Ram.
Around ten students spoke on the theme “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress” and highlighted the achievements of women in different fields. They further stressed upon the need to empower and emancipate women in all the fields.
The main speakers of the workshop were Nazish (JKAS) and Shalini Chandail (JKAS)- the alumni of the College.
They shared their experiences with the students and enumerated the need of such career counselling sessions at College and School level.
At the end an interactive question-answer session between the students and the invited speakers was moderated by Dr Jamsheed Ahmad. Students put forth their queries and doubts which were effectively answered by the resource persons
The first, second and third position was secured by Shabu, Fitra and Mehboob respectively. Trophies and medals were presented to all the participants. Prof Satish Kumar, Prof Falak and Prof Sudesh Kumar were jury members.
The programme ended with felicitation of the guest speakers who were presented with trophies and souvenirs.
The proceedings of the day were conducted by Prof Upma Kumari and a formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof Purnima Manhas. Other faculty members who attended the event are Prof Anoj Kumar, Prof Vijay Kumar, Prof Majid Gani, Dr Jaswant Singh and Dr Hafiz Ahmed.
