UDAIPUR, (RAJASTHAN) FEBRUARY 18: Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Ahmed Rana, today attended the second All India State Ministers’ Conference 2025 on Water held at Udaipur, Rajasthan.

The two day conference being convened from February 18 to 19 themed “Water Vision@2047, A Water Secure Nation,” is being organised by the National Water Mission, Ministry for Jal Shakti.

The Minister, while addressing the conference, shared perspectives on the broad approach of government of Jammu and Kashmir towards sustainable use of water resources. He highlighted Jammu Kashmir’s Water Policy on the subject of water supply and storage management.

“We have to keep a focussed approach towards augmenting our water sources and ensure sustainable water resource management for future generations,” maintained the Minister.

Rana said that change in the weather pattern due to global warming has put extra pressure on our water resources and there is a need to protect and preserve them for the generations to come.

“Effective management of water resources demands a holistic and participatory approach. It is the responsibility of each and every one of us, to be aware of the value of water and act to preserve this vital resource,” asserted the Minister.

He added that there is a need to undertake scientific measures towards this direction including planting of trees around the water sources and maintaining cleanliness. He said that the vision of a developed, water-secure India emphasises the importance of sustainable water management to support agriculture, industry and domestic use while preserving our rivers and ecosystems for generations to come. He shared the ideas, vision and the steps being taken up by the Jammu and Kashmir government for integrated and sustainable water management. He also highlighted the initiatives being taken up by the government to provide safe drinking water to people, improve groundwater levels and formulate the plans under Water Vision-2047.

Sharing his thoughts on the Conference, Rana said that this innovative conference will be a significant milestone in shaping India’s water security future. He said that the conference focussed on the concrete actions required to turn the Water Vision@2047 into reality and it is certainly a landmark event, bringing together top policymakers and experts to shape India’s water security vision.
