AKHNOOR, DECEMBER 23: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, today paid rich tributes to late Madan Lal Sharma, former Minister and Parliamentarian, on his 5th death anniversary at his native village.

The tributes were paid in the presence of his son, Minister Satish Sharma, along with family members, well-wishers, and members of the public.

Remembering the late leader, Javed Rana said that Madan Lal Sharma was widely respected for his strong value system, integrity, and towering stature in public life. He said that Sharma’s unwavering dedication to public service and commitment to the welfare of the people continue to inspire generations.

The Minister noted that the late leader always stood for inclusive development and consistently championed the cause of every section of society without discrimination or preference. He added that Madan Lal Sharma was a strong advocate of unity, harmony, and brotherhood—values that remain relevant and much needed in contemporary public life.

Expressing confidence in Satish Sharma, Rana said that he would carry forward his father’s rich legacy, follow in his footsteps, and work with dedication to realise his vision of a prosperous and progressive Jammu and Kashmir.

During the visit, Ministers Javed Rana and Satish Sharma also interacted with local residents and listened to their issues and concerns. Necessary directions were issued to the concerned officers for the immediate resolution of the matters raised, with emphasis on responsive and people-centric governance.

Both the ministers reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to addressing public grievances at the grassroots level on priority and ensuring effective and timely delivery of public services.

The programme was attended by local representatives, community members, and officials, who fondly recalled the contributions of the late leader to public life in Jammu and Kashmir.
Special awareness programmes were also held in which the public was educated about various welfare schemes of agriculture, horticulture, social welfare, and other departments.

On the occasion, the distribution of tricycles, blankets, notebooks, ear hearing pieces, and other items among the poor and needy people was done.

On the sidelines of the event, domicile certificates and Aadhar cards were also distributed. Agriculture and Horticulture Culture departments distributed seeds, plants, and allied things.
Water testing kits were also distributed among people.

Special medical camps both Allopathic and Ayurvedic were also held wherein on spot examination and distribution of medicines was also done. Mobile eye clinic facilities were also present wherein check up of scores of patients was done.

Further, Marriage Assistance cheques of Rs 75000 each were also distributed among the beneficiaries. It is worth mentioning here that the marriage assistance amount has been increased recently on the directions of Chief Minister, J&K.
