SRIANGAR, OCTOBER 11: Under the patronage of the Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (Patron-in-Chief, J&K Judicial Academy), Justice Arun Palli and under the guidance of Chairperson and Members of the Governing Committee of the Jammu & Kashmir Judicial Academy, a One Day Refresher Programme was organized at the Academy premises, Mominabad, Srinagar.

The programme was organized for Readers, Bench Secretaries, Secretaries, Assistant Registrars, Administrative Officers, Stenographers of all cadres, Section Officers, Head Assistants, System Assistants, Data Entry Operators, Senior Assistants, and Junior Assistants of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, Srinagar Wing.

The programme commenced with introductory remarks by Additional Registrar, High Court of J&K and Ladakh, Farhana Ali who underscored the importance of continuous professional development for administrative and technical staff in ensuring the smooth functioning of judicial processes. She highlighted that the integration of technology through eCourts initiatives and digital workflows has transformed the justice delivery system, making capacity-building programmes essential to maintain efficiency and accuracy in court operations.

The first technical session, conducted by CPC eCourts, Fayaz Ahmed Qureshi, focused on a Brief Overview of the Case Information System (CIS) including its structure, real-time case updates, and common operational challenges such as data entry errors, incorrect categorization, and missing case types. The session also covered E-Filing Operations, detailing the registration process for users and advocates, document uploading procedures, and validation mechanisms.

During the session participants discussed everyday issues in CIS and court proceedings, followed by an interactive Q&A session exploring practical scenarios and solutions.

The second session was led by the CPC eCourts, and Senior Technical Officer, Wasim Hyder Khan, who addressed Digital Infrastructure Limitations and Network Troubleshooting for Court IT Systems. They provided practical guidance on identifying and resolving issues such as connectivity failures, bandwidth limitations, IP conflicts, and network congestion. The session emphasized data security, privacy, and ensuring operational continuity during technical disruptions.

Demonstrations of basic troubleshooting steps such as using ping/tracert commands, DNS checks, and hardware resets were shared to help staff handle minor IT challenges efficiently.

The final session, conducted by the CPC eCourts, and Senior System Officer, Uzeir Nazir Chiken focused on the Data Management Software (DMS), explaining its core features, workflow automation, and security compliance framework. The session underscored the significance of maintaining data integrity, proper document storage, and adopting secure digital practices within the judiciary.

The programme concluded with a comprehensive interactive session and feedback exchange, where participants shared their on-ground experiences and practical challenges in operating CIS, DMS, and e-filing systems.
The Refresher Programme highlighted the Academy’s on-going commitment to enhancing the efficiency, digital literacy, and professional competency of court staff of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
