JAMMU, DECEMBER 16: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) successfully organized UT level Role Play and Folk Dance Competition at the Seminar Hall of Government Higher Secondary School (Boys), Gandhinagar, Jammu. Conducted under the National Population Education Programme (NPEP) and Adolescence Education Programme (AEP) and funded by NCERT, the event brought together teams from ten districts of Jammu Division and ten districts from Kashmir division to showcase their creativity and cultural talent while addressing important themes such as health and well-being, personal safety, media literacy, substance abuse prevention, gender equality, and environmental conservation.
Out of the total merit drawn at UT Level from divisional level competitions held at Srinagar and Jammu, GHSS Tikri, Udhampur excelled in Role play competition, PM Shri GHS Batote Ramban remained second whereas GHSS Rainawari Srinagar got third position. In Folk Dance and Drama category, GHSS Chairyai Udhampur secured the first position, GHSS Buddhi Kathua remained at second position whereas GHSS Gho Manhasa got the third prize.
The winner teams were awarded cash prizes whereas all the participants were given certificates. The topper teams will participate at national level competitions to held at Gwalior.
The event was inaugurated by Prof Parikshat Singh Manhas Chairman JKBOSE in presence of Prof. Sudhir Singh, Director Academics and UT Project Coordinator (NPEP/AEP).
In his inaugural address Prof. Manhas emphasized upon the importance of creative platforms in fostering awareness and critical thinking among students. “Practice makes a man perfect. Positivity coupled with consistent practice of values certainly yields success. Dissemination of awareness on prevalent evils is important in creating a progressive society and this programme is a creative step in this direction. By merging education with artistic expression, the Board continues to empower young minds to address pressing societal challenges with confidence and insight, shaping them into thoughtful and proactive citizens,” he added.
Prof Sudhir Singh in his address expressed satisfaction on the efficient conduct of competitions right from school to UT level. “This year we could successfully involve all the ten districts of Kashmir also after almost a decade; the outstanding enthusiasm and active participation is an indication of visible change,” he added. Principal GHSS Shastri Nagar Jammu assured support in organising such programs in future.
Earlier the programme started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed by welcome address by Dr. Yasir H. Sirwal, Deputy Director Academics-JD. He said such Programmes have good impact on the students which is reflected in their enthusiasm.
The competition was evaluated by a panel of judges, including Ms. Promila Manhas, Senior Lecturer, GGHSS Sarore Raj Kumar, Instructor at Institute of Music and Fine Arts, University of Jammu; and Mr. Sheikh Mohammad Haneef, a celebrated theatre artist and playwright.
Chander Sharma, Academic Officer, expressed vote of thanks. Sugandh, Academic Officer, gracefully anchored the Programme.
Rajesh Singh Asstt Secretary, Mohd Jameel Asstt Secretary, JKBOSE Ashutosh Parashar Academic officer Ms Syed Kashif Hashmi Academic officer, Mr Jamil Ahmed Assistant Secretary CDR/SOS JD JKBOSE, other officials of Academic Division JKBOSE and staff of GHSS Gandhinagar were present on the occasion.
This competition highlighted JKBOSE’s commitment to nurture creativity, cultural awareness, and social responsibility among students.
