SRINAGAR, MAY 22: Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) organised a workshop today under the “Nasha mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan (NMJKA)” at its Sempora, Pampore campus to promote awareness against substance abuse and encourage collective action towards building a drug-free society.

On the occasion, Mohammad Younis Malik, Director, JKEDI, administered the anti-drug pledge among officers and officials of the institute. Participants pledged to contribute actively towards eradicating the menace of drug addiction and strengthening awareness initiatives within society.

Addressing the gathering, Director JKEDI emphasised the need for collective efforts at all levels to make the campaign successful. He urged participants to initiate awareness efforts from their homes and communities to help build a healthier and drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.

Highlighting concerns surrounding mental health, he spoke about how anxiety, stress, and depression are closely interconnected and stressed the importance of timely support and guidance for individuals facing such challenges.

Employees of the institute also shared their views on measures to counter drug abuse at the grassroots level. Participants highlighted the crucial role of parents, mentors, and society in spreading awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promoting preventive interventions.

The workshop underscored the significance of awareness generation, community participation, and shared responsibility in addressing the issue of drug addiction. Participants reiterated their commitment to supporting the objectives of the “Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan” and contributing towards sustained awareness efforts.

The programme concluded with a call for active public participation and continuous awareness initiatives to realise the vision of a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.
