Srinagar, Mar 15 : The stage is all set for the first-ever Formula-4 car run in Kashmir, which will be held along Boulevard in Srinagar on Sunday.

The event is a collaboration between Formula-4 and the Indian Racing League under the aegis of the Department of Tourism.

As per the news agency, officials said the event is being held by the administration to promote Kashmir tourism and instill a passion among youth of the valley for motor sports.

The event as per the officials will take place from Lalit Ghat to Nehru Park, which covers a distance of 1.7 kilometres.

Officials said country’s top Formula drivers will take part in the event to enthral the audiences of Jammu and Kashmir.

“This is going to be a grand and historic event.  Formula-4 event will be an addition to the adventure in Kashmir. We have invited the country’s top Formula drivers, who expressed excitement for the Kashmir event,” they said.

Officials said the event is being held to introduce a culture of Formula-4 in the valley. “Kashmir for the last few years has been gaining popularity in the field of motor sports events. These Formula drivers will boost the morale of our youth to pursue their career in Formula 4 sport. After the event, the ace formula 4 drivers will interact with the enthusiasts to guide them about the sport,” They said.

Meanwhile Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri chaired a meeting on Thursday to take account of the arrangements for the marquee event.

Div Com admitted that the event would not only be a major attraction for youth  and will inspire the people of the valley for Formula 4 sport.

Terming the hosting of the Formula-4 auto race in Srinagar as one of the significant accomplishments, Div Com added that the event will expand the range of alternatives for Kashmiri sports fans and mark the start of a new career path for valley aficionados.

This ‘adrenaline rushing’ car race will be very exciting and enthralling for people, he said and added that such shows will also leverage adventure tourism of Kashmir. While reviewing the arrangements,

Div Com directed concerned officers to ensure leveling of the said road and black-topping of potholes on the route.

To ensure safety of drivers, Div Com instructed installation of C-type 2-tier barricades including red barricades at both the ends of the route besides deployment of a medical team with two critical care ambulances and fire extinguishers. Moreover, Div Com directed for proper security arrangements for the event and other requirements for event management including drone permission.
