Labour Department Kishtwar acts on Labour complaints Recovers ₹5.07 lakh as pending wages

KISHTWAR, MARCH 11: The Labour Department Kishtwar today awarded ₹5.07 Lakh (Rupees Five Lakh Seven Thousand Eight Hundred Fifty-One only) to 16 labourers in cases related to non-payment of wages.

The Labour Court allowed the petitions and asked for recovery of the wages from the defaulters.
According to official details, ₹2.74 Lakh (Rupees Two Lakh Seventy-Four Thousand only) was recovered from contractor Mohammad Sikander, while ₹2.13Lakh (Rupees Two Lakh Thirteen Thousand only) was recovered from the Sterlite Company as wage liabilities. The recovered amount was subsequently released to the concerned workers as pending wages.

Workers facing similar issues were also advised to approach the Labour Department for appropriate assistance and grievance redressal.
