SAMBA, JUNE 12: To mark World Day Against Child Labour, the Labour Department Samba organized a special awareness event today here at the Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) premises.

The event was graced by Labour Commissioner, J&K, Charandeep Singh, as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries present included Deputy Labour Commissioner Jammu, Vinakshi Koul, President BBIA, Lalit Mahajan, and the Chairman of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). The event also witnessed active participation from employees and representatives of the industries operating in the district.

During the programme, detailed discussions were held on the issue of child labour, including legal implications, societal impact and the penalties associated with employing child labour. The speakers emphasized the collective responsibility of industry stakeholders in eradicating this social evil.

A pledge against child labour was taken by all attendees, reaffirming their commitment to promoting ethical labour practices and safeguarding children’s rights.

The event concluded with a call for continued collaboration between government departments, industry associations, and civil society to build a child labour-free future.
