BARAMULLA, OCTOBER 07: A large-scale disaster management mock drill was conducted at Government Degree College (GDC) Sopore to assess and strengthen the preparedness of various agencies in responding to emergencies.
The exercise was organised by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Baramulla in collaboration with SDRF and Fire & Emergency Services, Sopore, under the chairmanship of ADC Sopore, S.A. Raina. A large number of students and faculty members participated in the exercise.
During the drill, response teams demonstrated rescue operations, emergency evacuation, firefighting techniques and other life-saving measures, highlighting the importance of timely action and coordinated response during disasters.
Addressing the gathering, ADC Sopore appreciated the participating agencies and stressed the importance of public awareness and preparedness. He urged students and the public to remain calm, follow safety protocols and act responsibly during emergencies.
The mock drill also provided students with practical awareness about disaster response and highlighted the administration’s efforts towards strengthening inter-agency coordination and building a safer and more resilient community.
