JAMMU, OCTOBER 14: After assuming charge recently as Managing Director (MD), Jammu and Kashmir Women’s Development Corporation (JKWDC), Purnima Mittal today called on Minister for Social Welfare, Education, Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo and briefed her about the Corporation’s ongoing schemes, programmes, and new initiatives aimed at empowering women and promoting their self-reliance across Jammu and Kashmir.

During the meeting, the Managing Director presented an overview of the Corporation’s activities, including various credit-based schemes, skill development initiatives, and entrepreneurship support programmes being implemented in collaboration with national financial institutions. She apprised the Minister of the efforts being made to extend financial assistance and training opportunities to women from economically weaker and underprivileged sections of society, particularly in rural and far-flung areas.

During the interaction, the Minister appreciated the Corporation’s efforts towards women’s socio-economic upliftment and emphasized the need for greater outreach, transparency, and convergence with other government departments to ensure maximum benefits reach the targeted beneficiaries. She also highlighted the importance of promoting awareness and digital literacy among women entrepreneurs to help them access emerging opportunities.

The Minister also asked the MD to work on future strategies and initiatives for expanding the Corporation’s impact through enhanced coordination, innovative programmes, and partnerships with grassroots institutions.

The MD assured the Minister of continued commitment to the mission of inclusive development and gender equality, reaffirming JKWDC’s resolve to strengthen initiatives that enable women to become self-sufficient contributors to the economy.
