Jammu, 27 February : In a heartwarming effort to support girls and promote equality, the Social Welfare Department in Jammu organized a special event called “Beti Bacho Beti Padho” at the Mission Shakti Office in Preet Nagar, Jammu.

Drawing inspiration from the poignant slogan originated by the Government of India’s initiative, the event encapsulated the essence of “Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child.” This resonant campaign underscored the pivotal significance of investing in girls’ education and nurturing an all-embracing society that champions gender parity.

With a steadfast commitment to its two foundational pillars, namely ‘Beti Bacho’ (Save the Girl Child) and ‘Beti Padho’ (Educate the Girl Child), the campaign embarked on a noble journey. Under the banner of ‘Beti Bacho,’ the endeavor sought to dismantle gender-based prejudices and illuminate the perils of practices like female feticide, underage marriages, and gender biases. By sensitizing communities and advocating against these harmful norms, the campaign aspired to cultivate an environment conducive to the holistic development of girl children.

Gracing the event with their esteemed presence were dignitaries of eminence. Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sh. Sachin Kumar Vaishya (IAS), adorned the role of the Chief Guest, alongside the Guest of Honor, Additional Deputy Commissioner Shishir Gupta (IAS), and Special Guest, Ms. Ishita Rathi (IAS) & Smt. Mamta Rajput (JKAS) District Social Welfare Officer Jammu, Ms. Shagun Manchanda, District Mission Coordinator Mission Shakti, and the dedicated officials  of DHEW and OSC Jammu.

The event crescendoed with the resounding words of inspiration from Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sh. Sachin Kumar Vaishya (IAS), who eloquently expounded on the essence of “Beti Bacho Beti Padho.” In a gesture emblematic of support and empowerment, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sh. Sachin Kumar Vaishya (IAS), initiated the distribution of essential provisions such as nutritional kits, baby essentials, school bags, laptop bags, and sewing machines.

The program further unfolded with enlightening sessions, each enriching in its own right. An informative discourse from the legal realm was led by Advocate Mamta, while Dr. Paras Khanna, an esteemed oncologist from Shankus Hospital, delved into matters of health. Lastly, Khushboo Kapthe, a Gender Specialist from DHEW Jammu, shed light on women-centric schemes, encapsulating the spirit of empowerment and progress.

In this collaborative effort marked by compassion and resolve, the Beti Bacho Beti Padho event exemplified a collective stride towards a brighter, more equitable future for all.
