Mission Shakti organises awareness Session on women centric schemes at JU

JAMMU, JANUARY 31: Mission Shakti, SANKALP HEW Social Welfare Department, in collaboration with the Centre for Women’s Studies, University of Jammu, organized an impactful workshop on government welfare schemes to meant for empowerment of women and to promote their financial independence.

The session featured Gender Specialist Khushboo Kapte as the resource person, who delivered an insightful lecture on various government schemes designed to uplift women.

Shagun Manchanda, District Mission Coordinator, Mission Shakti also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the significance of these schemes in improving women’s lives.

Prominent schemes discussed included Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), State Marriage Assistance Scheme (SMAS), Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), and pension schemes. Women were also introduced to entrepreneurship and skill development programs like PMEGP, Tejaswini, Mumkin encouraging them to explore economic opportunities.

The event was graced by Prof. Savita Nayyar, Director of the Centre for Women’s Studies, along with faculty members Dr. Saranjit Kaur and Ms. Kunzang Angmo, who actively contributed to the discussion and engaged with students. The interactive session witnessed enthusiastic participation from university students, who explored how these schemes can create real-world impact.

The Mission Shakti, in furtherance of its commitment towards women’s empowerment, continues to bridge the gap between policy and accessibility, ensuring women have the knowledge and resources to lead independent lives.
