BANDIPORA, FEBRUARY 11 : As part of the ongoing Child Marriage Free Bharat Campaign, Mission Vatsalya Bandipora, organized a Bal Vivah Mukht Bharat awareness programme at Athwatoo, Bandipora.

The programme aimed to sensitize community members about the harmful physical, emotional, and social consequences of child marriage, as well as to highlight the legal provisions under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006. Ex Sarpanchs, Ex ward members, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, Lumberdars, along with local community representatives, actively participated in the event.

Officials from DCPU, CWC, CHL and CHD educated attendees about the long-term negative impact of child marriage on education, health, and future opportunities, especially for young girls.

Participants were also informed about mechanisms to report child marriage cases, emphasizing the importance of timely intervention. The Child Helpline number 1098 was promoted as a 24/7 confidential reporting platform, enabling citizens to report cases and seek support for children at risk.

A resolution was passed during the programme, reaffirming the community’s commitment to prevent child marriage and to protect the Chlid Rights. Stakeholders pledged to remain vigilant, spread awareness, and support legal action against violations.

Officials reiterated that community involvement is crucial in eradicating child marriage and encouraged citizens to report suspected cases immediately to ensure timely protection and justice.

The event concluded with a strong message that every child deserves the right to education, safety, and a dignified future free from early marriage.
