Monthly NCORD meeting held at Kulgam

KULGAM, JULY 11: A meeting of the District Level Committee under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) was convened today at Kulgam to discuss and strategize measures to curb drug abuse and narcotic trade in the district.

The meeting held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kulgam, Viqar Ahmed Giri, reviewed the implementation of directives and decisions taken in previous sessions.

A detailed discussion was held on issues related to drug addiction, emerging areas of concern, hotspots of drug use, and the ongoing efforts by various departments to tackle the menace of drugs.

The meeting also assessed the action taken by enforcement agencies against drug abuse and narcotic trafficking in the district.

It was informed that during the month of June, 10 drug peddlers were arrested and 8 FIRs were registered.
Further, it was informed that the district has already achieved 100% target in the installation of CCTV cameras, besides 90 inspections were carried out in pharmacies and 05 medical shops were disallowed/ suspended for violation in maintaining sale/ purchase records.

ADC urged all stakeholders for their active participation in eradicating the drug menace.
The meeting was attended by SDM-DH Pora Bashir-ul- Hassan, ACD Bilal Kamgar, College Principals of Kulgam/Kilam/Frisal, all Tehsildars and other NCORD Committee members.
