Ganderbal: National Conference president and Member of Parliament Dr Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday visited the Rezan Gund area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district and announced compensation for the families hit by a landslide on Monday.

As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Dr Farooq while talking to the affected families said, “I will try my level best that your issues are redressed at the earliest.”

“Thank God, no loss of life or injury was reported. It is very important that the affected people should receive relief supplies as soon as possible as they are left with nothing,” he said.

Abdullah, who was accompanied by senior party leader Nasir Aslam Wani and others, said a piece of land should be identified where these families can rebuild their shelters. ‘After identifying the land, we will do our best to provide all kinds of financial help,” he said.

Nearly a dozen 10 houses, several shops and four cowsheds were damaged after a landslide struck the Rezan area on Monday.

The landslide, as per officials, was triggered by continuous rains and it caused “massive” damage in the area.

Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Shyambir along with SSP Nikhil Borker visited the spot on Monday and took stock of the situation. He said the families have been shifted to safer places—(KNO)
