HIRANAGAR, JULY 31: To improve public health and civic cleanliness, Municipal Committee Hiranagar organised a comprehensive sanitation and public awareness drive under the ongoing Safai Apnao, Bimaari Bhagao (SABB) campaign. Carried out under Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0 and in line with the IEC Action Plan for Solid Waste Management Rules 2026, the initiative combined direct household engagement with field sanitation work.
Municipal field teams conducted door-to-door visits across the town to educate residents on mandatory four-stream waste segregation at source. Citizens received clear instructions on using four separate bins for wet, dry, sanitary and domestic hazardous waste to ensure proper processing. The teams also demonstrated correct handwashing methods and shared essential measures to prevent water-borne and diarrhoeal diseases during the monsoon.
Municipal teams also cleaned and sanitised a public toilet facility to keep it accessible and safe. Local citizens participated actively, reinforcing the community’s commitment to proper waste disposal, daily personal hygiene and a healthier town environment.
