ANANTNAG, DECEMBER 10: With an aim to enhance road safety and enforcing traffic discipline, the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) Anantnag today carried out a comprehensive enforcement drive across the district.

During the operation, 250 vehicles were inspected, resulting in the issuance of 52 challans for various violations under the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988. The total fine expected from these challans amounts to Rs. 1.5 lakh.

Furthermore, 60 vehicles were blacklisted for lacking valid documents, highlighting the importance of maintaining proper documentation for all vehicles operating on the roads.

ARTO, Dr. Showkat Ahmad Bhat emphasized the critical need for adherence to traffic regulations to prevent accidents and ensure public safety. “Traffic rules are designed to protect lives and maintain order on the roads. It is imperative for all road users to follow these regulations responsibly,” Dr. Bhat stated, urging the public to prioritize safe and disciplined driving practices.

The ARTO reiterated the department’s commitment to conducting similar enforcement drives in the future to reinforce the importance of road safety and reduce the number of road accidents in the district.

He appealed to the public for greater cooperation in creating a safer driving environment and stressed the collective responsibility of all stakeholders to achieve this goal.
