RAJOURI, JULY 29: The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Rajouri has intensified its enforcement drive against traffic violations and the misuse of vehicles in criminal activities.

As part of the ongoing campaign, the registration certificates (RCs) of 86 vehicles operating without valid fitness certificates were suspended on the directions of Transport Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan.

Two driving licences were cancelled in cases related to the NDPS Act, while five were suspended for involvement in bovine smuggling, on the recommendations of the District Police Rajouri. One further driving licence was suspended for violations under the Motor Vehicles Act.

The department also suspended the registration certificates of two vehicles involved in NDPS-related cases and four linked to bovine smuggling, on the recommendations of the Police Department, taking the total number of RCs suspended during the drive to 92.

During the drive, the MVD team checked 125 vehicles, issued 25 challans and imposed fines amounting to ₹24,100 for various violations.

ARTO Rajouri Ashiq Rafiq Malik said the department is committed to strict compliance with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, and that sustained enforcement against traffic violations, unfit vehicles and the misuse of vehicles in illegal activities will continue to strengthen road safety across the district. He appealed to vehicle owners and drivers to adhere to all statutory requirements and cooperate with the department in promoting responsible and lawful road use.

The enforcement team comprised Motor Vehicles Inspector Lakhvinder Singh, Assistant Motor Vehicles Inspector Nitin and other officials of the department.
