RAMBAN, MAY 08: The Motor Vehicles Department Ramban conducted a special enforcement drive at various locations in the Gool, Sangaldan and Thatharka areas to check compliance with traffic regulations and enhance road safety.
During the enforcement drive, more than 65 vehicles were checked, of which 11 were e-challaned for violation of different provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, with the expected penalty amounting to Rs 2,15,500. Besides, three vehicles were seized and one driving licence was recommended for suspension.
The major offences detected included overloading, driving without a valid driving licence, expired fitness certificates, expired insurance documents and non-availability of valid Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUCC).
The ARTO sensitised drivers and vehicle operators about the importance of adhering to traffic rules and warned that strict penal action, including seizure of vehicles and suspension or cancellation of licences, registration certificates and route permits, would be initiated against violators, particularly those indulging in overloading.
The drivers were also sensitised to the dangers of driving under the influence of intoxicants and encouraged to contribute towards building a safer, drug-free society by being part of ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan.
