BARAMULLA, FEBRUARY 18 The National Geospatial Knowledge-Based Land Survey of Urban Habitations (NAKSHA) was launched today at Government Degree College Pattan as part of a nationwide pilot initiative under the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP).

Jammu and Kashmir is among the regions selected for this initiative, with four Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) identified for the pilot project, including Pattan.

The programme aims to modernize land records using advanced geospatial technology, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and efficiency in urban land management.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Javed Reyaz Bedar highlighted the significance of accurate land records in streamlining urban planning and ensuring transparency in governance.

DC Minga Sherpa, emphasized the administration’s commitment to leveraging technology for efficient land management, reducing disputes, and enhancing urban development through reliable geospatial data.

The event was attended by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Pattan, Gulzar Ahmad, Tehsildar Pattan, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Pattan and other Officers and officials from concerned departments besides local residents.

An Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign was also conducted to create awareness regarding the benefits of programme.
