JAMMU, MAY 13: As part of the ongoing 100 Day Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan Campaign, the District Administration Jammu today conducted surprise raids at multiple locations across the district.
The raids were carried out to check the sale and storage of e-cigarettes/vapes and other prohibited items under the COTPA Act.
During the drive, one shop at Channi namely Maa Laxmi Super Store was sealed on the spot for violation of norms. Goods worth over ₹10 lakh including around 350 e-cigarettes were seized, in presence of Additional District Magistrate Vidhu Shekhar, SDM Jammu (South) Manu Hansa and Tehsildar Bahu Raju Sambyal along with IAS Probationer Ruchika Jha.
It is pertinent to mention that use of e-Cigarettes is banned in India, under The Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019.
