BARAMULLA, OCTOBER 31: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa Thursday administered the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge to officers and officials of the district administration at Dak Bunglow here to honour the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 150th birth anniversary.

Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, celebrated every year on October 31st, pays tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s crucial role in the unification of India, recognizing his tireless efforts in bringing together diverse regions and communities under a single, unified nation.

The event witnessed a gathering of officers and officials from all the departments, assembled to take a pledge to reinforce their commitment to the ideals of unity, integrity, and national security, championed by Sardar Patel, India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs.

Later, to pay tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s legacy, the DC presented blankets and other essentials from the Red Cross to the Jail Superintendent of Baramulla District Jail for distribution among the jail inmates.

The blankets and essential supplies handed over will serve to improve living conditions for the inmates as the colder month’s approach, with hopes of promoting a message of compassion, respect, and social reintegration.
