Sopore, Oct 01 : National Conference (NC) candidate Irshad Rasool Kar on Tuesday said the party is committed to delivering much-needed change after years of “misgovernance”.
Speaking to reporters after casting his vote in Sopore – a region known for its history of election boycotts, Kar expressed confidence in the NC’s vision for the future.
“The manifesto is clear, and people are drawn to it. They trust in its implementation. The misgovernance of the past decade will surely come to an end,” he told the news agency.
On Sopore’s historical reluctance to participate in elections, the NC leader linked his campaign to the restoration of Articles 370 and 35A, which were revoked in August 2019.
“Sopore has been a hub of boycotts, but we firmly advocate for the restoration of Article 370 and 35A and for the autonomy of Jammu & Kashmir. This is our top priority, and we will pursue this goal diligently,” he added.
In the final phase of Jammu & Kashmir assembly elections today, Sopore has registered a voter turnout of 6.71% so far
