REASI, NOVEMBER 20: A team of experts from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), accompanied by senior officers of the District Administration Reasi including ADDC Reasi Sukhdev Singh Samyal, ADC Rakesh Kumar and other officers today conducted a comprehensive Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) visit to the affected areas of the district.

During the visit, the NDMA team assessed the extent of damage and interacted with officers to gather detailed information on losses pertaining to infrastructure, housing, agriculture, livestock, community assets and essential services.

The objective of the PDNA exercise was to evaluate the immediate requirements of the affected population and support the formulation of a comprehensive rehabilitation and recovery plan.

As part of the assessment, the team attended a meeting at the DC Office Complex Reasi, where ADDC Reasi presented a detailed report on the losses to lives, livestock, crops, houses, government property and community infrastructure.

District officers briefed the NDMA experts on the ground situation and the response measures already taken to restore normalcy. The team also reviewed the ongoing relief and restoration efforts, emphasizing the need for close coordination among various departments to ensure effective recovery and improved disaster preparedness.

The NDMA experts directed all concerned departments to submit accurate and comprehensive details of damages, supported with geo-tagged photographs. They stressed that each loss must be properly documented, including the level and nature of damage. For infrastructure-related damages, officers were instructed to provide exact measurements and the extent of affected areas.

The visiting team highlighted that creating resilient infrastructure is essential to minimize losses in the event of future disasters.

The District Administration assured full cooperation and commitment to timely submission of all required information to facilitate the NDMA’s assessment and subsequent recovery planning.
