Jammu, Oct 18 : While 70 houses have been raised to ground by a devastating fire at Mul Warwan area of Kishtwar, the people of Chenab valley have come to their rescue by raising funds, providing clothes, blankets and other items required to start afresh.

As per the news agency, several non-government organizations (NGOs) have been moving from pillar to post to raise funds and accept everything required to rebuild the houses of affected families.

These NGOs including Furqan Welfare Trust (FWT) of Ghat Doda and Alkosar Charitable trust of Thathri Doda are in the field to gather more and more funds including blankets, mattresses and tin sheets besides money to help the affected families.

These trusts have been providing relief to needy people on a regular basis and whenever needed they help them whatever they can.

Talking to KNO, a member of FWT said, “It is a tragedy which can happen to anybody and anywhere and it is our responsibility to help them in this hour. We have established several counters in Doda town and elsewhere to raise funds and on a daily basis people have been donating generously. We have got enough blankets and mattresses but what we require more is tin sheets and plywood so that temporary houses are built for people on an immediate basis.”

Around 70 houses were gutted in a massive fire in Mul village of Warwan and people were left with an open sky to spend cold nights. People have lost their cattle, which is one of the sources of income for the people but they lost everything in the devastating blaze.

Pertinently, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah along with Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary visited the area yesterday and assured all possible help to rebuild the village.

Omar said that he will seek help from Prime Minister Narendra Modi under the PM relief fund and rebuild houses under PM Awas Yojna.

The biggest challenge for the people is to prepare shelters where they can spend harsh winters and brave the snowfall expected in the upcoming days. They will be mainly dependent on the government aide but the help being provided by NGOs is the immediate relief they are getting
