Srinagar, Mar 21 : “Ramadan can play an important role in improving one’s physical health and fitness,” said Farhaan Muneer, a fitness guru while highlighting the benefits of Ramadan.

As per news agency—, as Muslims around the world observe the holy month of Ramadan, fitness gurus highlight the unexpected benefits of fasting for physical health and achieving fitness goals.

During Ramadan, Muslims abstain from food and drink from dawn to dusk, engaging in a period of spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and heightened devotion. While fasting is primarily a religious practice, fitness gurus are emphasizing its potential as a tool for optimizing health and fitness.

According to experts, the intermittent fasting practiced during Ramadan can lead to a range of physiological and psychological benefits.

“In the fitness sector, the idea of intermediate fasting is quite popular. It’s a blessing that we have this wonderful chance throughout Ramadan. People, however, fail to achieve physical transformation during the month as they overeat and have unhealthy food at sehri and iftar, which makes them more susceptible to unhealthy lifestyle and diseases,” said Farhaan who is also a nutrition entrepreneur.

He said people should avoid over-eating and sugary foods in particular, to witness results during the holy months.

“A person mostly gets sugar cravings during the day as glycogen level goes down in the blood. With oily and sugary foods, calorie intake increases, which makes a person more vulnerable to an unhealthy body,” Farhaan said.

He said a person can go from being overweight to fit with an intermediate-level training or a simple brisk walk along with “disciplined food habits” During the month.

“A person should eat healthy foods which include fiber, protein, and small amounts of carbohydrates during Ramadan because a person’s body is not in a normal state during this time,” Farhaan said.

Waqar Younis, another fitness expert suggested the people to maintain an active lifestyle during the month.

“It is important to maintain a balanced diet during non-fasting hours to maximize the benefits of Ramadan fasting. We mostly see that people here sleep or remain in an inactive state for maximum hours. This is not good for the body as physical activity during the daytime is essential. It is crucial to listen to your body during Ramadan and rest when needed,” he said.
