Mubashir Alam Wani

Srinagar, Apr 23 : Terming Pahalgam terror attack as ‘heart-wrenching’, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra on Wednesday said the Congress party will not indulge in politics or raise questions over the incident at this time.

Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Karra, as per the news agency said the party stands in solidarity with the families of those who lost their lives in the attack.

The terror attack left more than two dozen tourists dead and several others injured on Tuesday.

“This is a moment of grief, not politics. The country needs unity, not division,” Karra said. However, he acknowledged that questions related to security and lapses would be raised “at the right time”.

Karra said that beyond the security lapse, there were other questions involved in it, which needed clarification and that the Congress will raise those questions at the appropriate time.

Stating that it was time to remain united against threats, Karra mentioned that senior Congress leadership also spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Lieutenant Governor of J&K and Chief Minister J&K.

“As of now we share this grief, and all parties in the country should be united to fight against such emerging threats,” Karra said
