PANTHERS CONDEMN ECI FOR DISCRIMINATING WITH JKNPP
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterWhatsappTelegram

Jammu March 12: Vilakshan Singh, President, J&K National Panthers Party has strongly condemned Election Commission of India for discriminating with J&K National Panthers Party during its visit to J&K. Singh said that Chief Electoral Officer, J&K invited the names of the representatives of J&K National Panthers Party who would meet the Election Commission of India during its visit to J&K. JKNPP submitted the names of its representatives for the said purpose. To the utter surprise of the party, after several inquiries it was informed to the party yesterday that the Election Commission of India has not approved the names of the representatives of J&K National Panthers Party for meeting the Election Commission of India during its visit to UT of J&K. Singh, in a letter written to the Chief Election Commissioner, expressed anguish and stated that it was very unfortunate that a recognized party was not allowed to meet the Election Commission of India.

The decision of Election Commission of India not to allow representatives of a recognized party to meet it is a major deviation from the well established norms followed by ECI and is also indicative of the bias towards the regional parties. The ECI was known for making available a level playing field to all the parties. But the decision of ECI not to allow the representatives of J&K National Panthers Party to meet it during its J&K visit is arbitrary and raises a question mark on the impartial approach of ECI.

Singh said that JKNPP is being made to pay for its fight for preserving the Dogra identity. He said that it seems that ECI is following the dictates of BJP. He said that BJP knows that people in J&K are fed up with BJP and are looking for a better alternative. Singh said that BJP cannot bring down the morale of JKNPP by abusing power. JKNPP shall continue its fight for the welfare of poor and downtrodden irrespective of the hardships it is being made to face.
