PD&SJ Bandipora chairs 2nd UTRC Meeting 2026 in District

BANDIPORA, APRIL 17: Principal District & Sessions Judge (PD&SJ) (Chairman, District Legal Services Authority), Bandipora, Jeema Bashir, today chaired 2nd Under Trial Review Committee (UTRC) meeting with the objective of ensuring timely review and release of undertrial prisoners, thereby promoting their rights and access to justice.

The meeting was held in the Conference Hall at ADR Centre (District Court Complex), Bandipora and was attended by Indu Kanwal Chib, District Magistrate, Bandipora; Aijaz Ahmad Zargar, Senior Superintendent of Police, Bandipora; Sheikh Babar Hussain, Secretary, DLSA Bandipora; Barkat Ahmad Dar, Superintendent, District Jail Baramulla, Ahmad Shaafi, DySP, DAR Bandipora (In-charge Subsidiary Jail) Bandipora; Syed Sareer Ahmad, Chief Prosecuting Officer, Principal District and Sessions Court, Bandipora; Iftikar Hassan, Public Prosecutor, Additional Sessions Court, Bandipora, Gazanfer Syed, Superintendent District Jail Kupwara and Bilal Ahmad Bhat, Chief, LADC Bandipora.

The Committee conducted a preliminary review of four cases and recommendations made by the UTRC will be forwarded to the competent authorities for necessary action.

The meeting underscored the commitment of the District Legal Services Authority, Bandipora, to uphold the principles of justice and safeguard the rights of undertrial prisoners. The Authority remains dedicated in promoting access to justice and protecting the rights of marginalized and vulnerable sections of society.

The District Legal Services Authority, Bandipora, will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that justice is served and the rights of all individuals are protected, under law.
