ANANTNAG, MARCH 25: A plantation drive was successfully organized at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Anantnag, SKUAST-K in collaboration with social forestry Anantnag under the Bhumi Suposhan Abhiyan, aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and soil health conservation.
The programme was graced by the Chief Guest, Prof. Rihana Habib Kanth, Director Extension, SKUAST-K, who emphasized the importance of tree plantation in enhancing ecological balance and improving soil fertility. She encouraged farmers, youth, and students to actively participate in such initiatives for a greener and healthier future.
The Special Guest, Gazalla Abdulla, DFO social forestry Anantnag highlighted the role of social forestry in community development and stressed the need for collective efforts in afforestation and natural resource conservation.
Dr. Ishtiyaq A Khan in his address, briefed the gathering about KVK Anantnag, SKUAST-K’s continuous efforts and commitment towards environmental conservation. He reiterated that the KVK is actively promoting plantation drives across Anantnag district as part of its mission to safeguard the environment and enhance green cover.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of Government School Kreeri, who actively took part in the plantation activities and learned about the importance of environmental stewardship at a young age.
The programme concluded with a pledge by all participants to protect and nurture the planted saplings and contribute towards environmental conservation.
