Police arrests two drug peddlers, two gamblers

Srinagar: Police in Baramulla arrested a drug peddler and recovered huge quantity of contraband substance from his possession. Besides, police also arrested two gamblers from Pattan area, a police spokesman said Monday.

He said that a police party at a checkpoint established at Hariwatnoo Tangmarg near Kralpora link road arrested a drug peddler identified as Bilal Ahmad Karay son of Munzwar Kharay resident of Roohipora Ratnipora. During search, officers recovered 2.5 Kgs of charas powder from his possession.

Similarly in Bandipora a police party arrested a drug peddler identified as Mohammad Yaqoob Beigh son of Mohamad Rajab Beigh resident of Ganasatan. On his personal search, Brown Sugar concealed in paper strips was recovered from his possession.

Moreover, acting on specific information about gambling activities in Orchards of Ghat Gopallan Palhallan, a police party raided the specific site and arrested two gamblers on the spot. They have been identified as Ghulam Hassan Dar son of Ghulam Nabi Dar resident of Gopalllan and Manzoor Ahmad Kharoo son of Abdul Ahad resident of Aathkhore Gund Roshan.

Officers have seized stake money of ₹4000/- and playing cards from the gamblers. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated, the spokesman added.
