Chithi Bandi, Aragam (Bandipora) | August 2025: In a major crackdown on illegal drug cultivation, Police Station Aragam in District Bandipora, in collaboration with the Excise Department, conducted a joint operation to eradicate cannabis plantations in the Chithi Bandi area of Aragam.
The anti-narcotics drive witnessed active participation from Lumberdars, local residents, and the NGO Empowering Kashmir, highlighting a growing community resolve against drug abuse. During the operation, a considerable quantity of illegally cultivated cannabis was located and destroyed at multiple sites under the jurisdiction of Aragam Police Station.
Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Syed Manzoor Ahmad said the operation is part of a larger effort to eliminate the drug menace from the region and safeguard the future of the younger generation.
“This operation sends a strong message that we will not allow drug cultivation to endanger the future of our children. Community cooperation is essential in our fight against this menace,” said SHO Manzoor.
He urged residents to remain alert and report any suspicious or illegal activities in their areas, assuring that the police are fully committed to acting swiftly and decisively against such threats.
The police have also appealed to citizens to contact the nearest police station for any tip-offs, reiterating their vision of a safer and drug-free Bandipora.
