Srinagar, Dec 20: In a major breakthrough, an absconding and proclaimed offender namely Javed Ahmad Thakkar @Raja Thakkar son of Tasaduq Hussain Thakkar resident of Barhon Thanamandi, Rajouri wanted in a Narco-Terrorist financing case FIR No 19/22 of PS SIA Kashmir today Surrendered before the Special UAPA Court Srinagar.
In a statement to Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com the agency said “Being investigated by SIA Kashmir one Proclaimed Offender among 05 others has surrendered before the Special Court designated under NIA Act, Srinagar.
The Agency said the absconder, a declared proclaimed offender was evading arrest for the last one year against whom the investigation agency had after getting him declared a proclaimed offender initiated proceedings for the attachment of his moveable/immovable property before the Special Court.
SIA through sustained efforts and legal action made compelling circumstances for the accused proclaimed offender to give up the chase and surrender before the agency. The proclaimed offender has been sent to central jail Srinagar for further legal action, the agency said.
Pertinent to mention that in the investigation of the case, the investigation agency has so far arrested six accused persons and charge sheeted them before the honourable Special Court, SIA said adding that, of the remaining involved accused persons six including the one who surrendered have since been declared as proclaimed offender’s, of remaining 05 absconders Abdul Rashid Bhat S/O Ghulam Mohammad Bhat R/O Larkripora, Padgampora, Awantipora, Sageer Ahmad Poswal S/O Nazir Ahmad Poswal R/O Amrohi Tad Karanah Kupwara, Iftikhar Ahmad Sheikh S/O Abdul Lateef Sheikh R/O Amrohi Tad Karanah Kupwara, Abdul Rashid Mir S/O Mohammad Sultan Mir R/O Amargrah Sopore, and Basharat Ahmad Poswal S/O Mohammad Sadiq R/O Parda Karnah, Kupwara are operating from Pakistan and are on run in India.
The investigation in respect of the remaining involved accused persons is continuing, the statement added.KDC
