DODA, FEBRUARY 26: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Doda, Krishan Lal today visited Panthan area of Thathri and presided over a Public outreach camp aimed at addressing public grievances and strengthening grassroots governance in the district.
During the programme, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with locals and patiently listened to their issues and demands. He assured timely redressal of all genuine concerns through coordinated departmental action.
The locals highlighted several key issues, demanding upgrading of high school to higher secondary, dismantling of a damaged and unsafe school building, drinking water shortage in Panthan area, construction of link road, replacement of worn out poles and wires and construction of dispensary building.
The public also stressed effective implementation of sheep husbandry schemes and wider outreach of women welfare initiatives.
Responding to the concerns, the Deputy Commissioner informed that necessary measures are being undertaken to augment water supply in the area. He directed the Chief Education Officer (CEO) to immediately examine the matter regarding dismantling of the non-functional and unsafe building to prevent any untoward incident.
Regarding road connectivity, it was informed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Premnagar Link Road has already been completed and further procedural formalities are in progress.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the CMO to coordinate with the concerned Tehsildar for identification of suitable land for construction of the proposed dispensary building to improve healthcare access for the local population.
To enhance awareness about welfare schemes, the DC instructed the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) to organise a dedicated awareness camp in the area, with special emphasis on women-centric schemes and to distribute informational pamphlets among residents. He further directed the Sheep Husbandry Department, to conduct a joint awareness programme with SWD to ensure eligible beneficiaries receive benefits under relevant schemes without delay.
Regarding power related issues, the XENs, Power Development Department (PDD) informed that the area would be provided electricity poles under the RDSS scheme to strengthen the power infrastructure and improve reliability of supply.
Emphasising the importance of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), the Deputy Commissioner directed the Horticulture Department to organise awareness camps focusing on low water-requirement plantations suited to local agro-climatic conditions.
Urging public cooperation, the Deputy Commissioner appealed residents to work collectively with the administration, stating that participatory efforts are vital for sustainable development and welfare at the grassroots level.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the progress of work on a local playground and directed the concerned officers to expedite completion of the project within the stipulated timeframe.
The Public camp was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Roshan Lal, Chief Planning Officer Manesh Kumar, Executive Engineers, Assistant Commissioner Development, Programme Officer ICDS, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, District Social Welfare Officer and other district and sectoral officers.
