Srinagar, Apr 01 : The dilapidated condition of a public washroom located at Guru Bazar Karan Nagar Srinagar has become a breeding ground for garbage and poses a serious health hazard to the residents, who are now urging the administration to take swift action.
Speaking to the news agency , local residents have expressed their anger with the current condition of the washroom, describing it as an “unhygienic hub of diseases.”
The washroom constructed by Srinagar Municipality Corporation is also maintained by it.
Arsalan, a local said the situation is intolerable as the facility is not only an eyesore but also a major health risk.
“We fear the spread of diseases due to the accumulation of garbage and unsanitary conditions,” he said.
Anas, another local living nearby, echoed similar sentiments, saying they have been raising the concern with the authorities for a long time to no avail.
“The administration needs to prioritize public health and hygiene. We demand that they either demolish the structure and build a new one or renovate it completely to ensure it is safe and clean for everyone to use,” he added.
When contacted, an official from SMC told action will be initiated soon in this regard and they have taken note of the matter.
