PULWAMA, MAY 05: As part of the ongoing 100-day campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, a series of awareness and outreach activities were conducted across Pulwama district by multiple departments to sensitise the public about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
The Youth Services and Sports Department organised rallies and sports competitions across various zones of the district, witnessing active participation of students and staff from several educational institutions.
In Zone Pulwama, institutions including GHSS Pulwama, HSS Hawl, HS Malangpora, HS Payer, GHS Gadoora, NIE Institute, GMS Karimabad, GMS Booner and UPS Chewakalan organised anti-drug rallies. In Zone Tahab, HS Naina conducted chess and table tennis competitions, UPS Patipora organised badminton events, while MS Chandgam held an awareness rally.
In Zone Pampore, inter-zonal chess and table tennis competitions were held at BHSS Pampore, while GHSS Khrew organised an anti-drug rally. In addition, the Zonal Office Tral conducted zonal-level badminton and volleyball tournaments for U-14 boys.
Participants in these activities also participated in the pledge taking ceremonies committing to work towards a drug-free society.
Furthermore, the Drug Control Department Pulwama organised a rally at Sub-District Headquarters Tral under the campaign, with participation from members of the Chemists and Druggists Association and students from a local educational institutions.
Moreover, multi-sectoral awareness programmes were conducted at Lalpora Tral, Hatiwara Pampore and Sirnoo Pulwama. The Education Department also organised awareness rallies across the district.
The activities form part of the district action plan to involve all sections of society in addressing the issue of drug abuse.
