Rajouri: RTA approves change of route, stage carriage permits
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterWhatsappTelegram

RAJOURI, FEBRUARY 11: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma today chaired a meeting of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) in his office chamber to review the applications related to change of route permits and grant of stage carriage permits in the district.

SSP, Gaurav Sikarwar and ARTO Rajesh Gupta among others attended the meeting.

The RTA took up 17 applications for change of route permits. After detailed scrutiny, 11 applications were approved, while 5 were rejected for not meeting the prescribed norms and one was deferred for want of additional clarifications.

Besides, the applications for grant of stage carriage permits were also approved to facilitate better public transport connectivity across different routes of the district.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for coordinated action by the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) and Traffic Police for conducting joint inspections to identify and finalise designated parking points, so as to ensure smooth traffic flow and avoid congestion in busy areas.

He further directed the concerned authorities to explore the possibility of providing more route permits on underserved and ‘hungry’ routes, particularly in areas with inadequate transport facilities, to prevent overloading and ensure better connectivity for the public.
