RAMBAN, APRIL 01: District Task Force (DTF) on Wednesday conducted an enforcement drive against child labour in main market areas of Ramban Town.

A team comprising Chairperson Child Welfare Committee Nighat Ganai; SHO Vikram Parihar; officials from the Labour and Employment Department, Child Helpline and the Healthcare Department carried out the drive under the supervision of Assistant Labour Commissioner Amit Kumar.

The team conducted inspections, awareness activities and raids at various locations across the township to identify instances of child labour and children in street situations, ensuring strict compliance with labour laws.

The team rescued nine children forced in child labour. The rescued children were produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and taken to a rehabilitation centre. Subsequently, they were handed over to their guardians after proper counselling and strict warnings to ensure that such practices are not repeated.

The Assistant Labour Commissioner reiterated the administration’s firm commitment to eradicate child labour and safeguard the rights of children. He stated that the department shall take strict legal action, including registration of FIRs and cancellation of licences of establishments found forcing children into labour.
