REASI, DECEMBER 04: Additional Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Rakesh Kumar today chaired a meeting to review and further strengthen measures aimed at controlling pollution caused by plastic waste and single-use plastic (SUP) in the district.
The ADC emphasized the need for strict enforcement of the ban on single-use plastic items. He directed the enforcement authorities to intensify market inspections, ensure penal action against violators, and carry out extensive awareness campaigns to educate the public about the harmful effects of plastic pollution on the environment and public health.
The ADC called for close coordination among the Municipal Committees, Police, Forest Department and other concerned departments to promote behavioural change and reduce reliance on plastic products.
ACR Nitin Verma, CMO, DSP Headquarters, Vishal Singh and other officers were present in the meeting. SDMs from the subdivisions joined the review virtually.
