BANDIPORA, JULY 08: In a major step towards eliminating child labour, a joint rescue operation was conducted on Tuesday in the Sumbal area of Bandipora district.

The operation, carried out under the ongoing Pan India Anti-Child Labour Campaign, led to the rescue of three children from exploitative labour conditions.

The rescue drive was jointly conducted by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Bandipora, District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Labour Department, Police Department, and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bandipora. The departments worked in close coordination, pooling their resources and expertise to identify and rescue children engaged in hazardous and illegal work.

Chairperson of CWC Bandipora, Dr. Asima, commended the collaborative spirit and swift action of all departments involved. While emphasizing the importance of community involvement in such efforts, she urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any instances of child labour they come across.

She said that every child deserves the right to education, a safe environment, and a childhood free from exploitation. She urged the general public to report child labour cases by calling the Child Helpline 1098 or by reaching out directly to the CWC or DCPU. “All reports will be kept strictly confidential,” she added.

On the occasion, it was informed that the rescued children will now be enrolled in a structured rehabilitation program, ensuring their access to education, healthcare, and psychosocial support to help them reintegrate into society and lead dignified lives.
