UDHAMPUR, NOVEMBER 08: The District Rescue Team for Child Labour/Child Marriage/Child Abuse rescued a minor girl from Chenani Sub-division soon before her marriage.
The team acted promptly after receiving telephonic information regarding child Marriage in the afternoon of Nov 6, 2024 and collected all the needful documents such as wedding card, date of birth, place of marriage etc.
After verifying the age of the minor, which was 15 years and 11 months, the team swung into action.
The rescue team led by Coordinator Child Helpline/ Member District Task Force Hari Krishan and comprising members from Child Welfare Committee, Medical Staff, Social worker and Outreach worker from DCPU, Supervisor Poshan Abhiyaan along with a Police party from PS Chenani, rescued the minor girl. The child Marriage was going to be solomoised on Nov 8, 2024.
The minor was produced before the Child Welfare Committee which ordered her temporary placement at Parisha, a child care institute for girls.
The wrongdoers will face legal consequences under relevant provision of the law.
