The increase in suicides over the past few years is alarming and dangerous. It is a sign of poor mental health and emphasises the need to identify the causes and contributing factors. A few significant problems, such as unemployment, societal discouragement, drug usage, and family problems, may be behind this alarming trend. It’s crucial to comprehend these problems and create plans that will enable the system to deal with them. The situation on the ground requires those in charge of affairs in J&K to be proactive, sensitive, and aware of their obligations at the same time. They cannot ignore this any longer.

One significant element that has been connected to a rise in suicide rates is unemployment. Many people have lost their employment as a result of the economic crisis, which has left them struggling financially and feeling despondent. This can result in a lack of direction and diminished mental health, which might then result in suicidal thoughts. The lack of further employment opportunities due to government inaction worsens an already dire scenario.  Another important element that may be linked to the surge in suicides is social discouragement. Many people fail to establish deep connections with others because they feel alone and distant. This may result in feelings of isolation and a lack of support, both of which can be detrimental to mental health.

Another concern that has been linked to the current surge in suicides is drug abuse. Substance abuse can be a form of self-medication and escapism, as well as a source of pessimism and despair. Suicide is more likely among people who struggle with substance abuse and believe they have no other options. The threat is exacerbated by a plethora of other issues, all of which must be addressed. Suicides may be influenced by familial issues as well.  Family members can be a source of comfort and support, but they can also be a source of tension and conflict. Suicide risk increases when a person feels abandoned and uncared for. Such emotions might lead to depression and despair.

It is critical to establish the primary reasons that may be implicated to develop approaches to help solve the present increase in suicides. Making mental healthcare therapies more accessible is one option. This can include assuring adequate resources for mental health specialists as well as providing aid to persons who may be facing mental health issues. Addressing the underlying issues that may be making people feel disconnected and alone is also critical. This category may include increasing access to social interests such as sports and hobbies, which can develop meaningful relationships and a sense of community.

Finally, it’s critical to address the problem of drug abuse. This could entail offering assistance to persons who are battling with substance misuse as well as running efforts to spread knowledge about the risks associated with substance usage. It is vital to comprehend the major elements and problems that are behind the recent increase in suicides because it is a troubling and dangerous situation.
