SRINAGAR, AUG 03: The third edition of SARAS Aajeevika Kashmir 3.0 was today launched at Zabarwan Park.
This 10-day extravaganza is a dynamic showcase of the talent and tenacity of rural women entrepreneurs from across India, brought to life by the Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission under the Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj.

This year’s Mela features over 200 artisans from diverse states, presenting a dazzling array of crafts. Attendees can explore intricate handwoven textiles, beautiful bamboo creations, and an array of vibrant handicrafts and organic food products.

The event authentically showcases the true artistry of rural artisans and provides a genuine opportunity to support local economies through the purchase of their handmade creations.

The fair serves as a pivotal platform for members of self-help groups (SHGs) under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY NRLM), showcasing vibrant artisans from regions such as Maharashtra , West Bengal,Punjab, Assam and Uttar Pradesh. These skilled women artisans proudly manage their stalls, reflecting the rich diversity of regional crafts and cultures.

Reyaz Ahmad Beigh, Additional Mission Director Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission Kashmir Division, emphasized that the fair acts as a catalyst for economic growth in rural areas, empowering artisans and fostering skill development while preserving India’s cultural heritage.

Adding further he said that SARAS AAJEEVIKA celebrates the inspiring livelihoods of women while fostering cross-cultural exchange. This unique platform brings together different states, promoting mutual learning and cultural harmony.

The exchange of ideas, techniques, and designs is expected to spark innovative collaborations and creative synergies.

Through these Saras Melas, women self-help groups are creating livelihood opportunities and exemplifying women’s empowerment across the nation, he said.
