DODA, FEBRUARY 18: The State Council of Educational Research and Training SCERT Divisional Office Jammu in collaboration with the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Doda, has officially launched a five-day training programme for in-service teachers.

The programme, which commenced today, will continue through February 22, 2025, with a focus on promoting equitable and inclusive education as recommend in NEP 2020 in schools across the district.

The training began with a briefing by Suheel Raja, a teacher from the District Resource Group (DRG), who introduced the training schedule and outlined the sessions planned for the week.

Following the introduction, Dharmender Kumar, Principal of DIET Doda, delivered the keynote address. In his speech, he encouraged the participants to apply the key insights from the training in their respective schools and stressed the importance of 100% attendance. He also highlighted the necessity of translating the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 into actionable practices at the grassroots level.

This training programme is part of the National Initiative for School Heads’ and Teachers’ Holistic Advancement (NISHTHA), which is designed to strengthen teachers’ capacity to implement inclusive education practices.

The overarching goal is to ensure that all students, including those with special needs, have access to equal and high-quality learning opportunities.

The opening session was attended by Parshotam Singh, Academic Officer from SCERT Divisional Office Jammu, along with resource persons and teacher participants from various schools in the region. The training sessions, led by experts in special education and pedagogy, cover a broad spectrum of topics, including differentiated instruction, classroom strategies for inclusive settings, addressing the diverse needs of learners, and understanding legal frameworks such as the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Act.

In his address, Parshotam Singh emphasized the importance of inclusive education in building an equitable and accessible learning environment for all students. “This training programme reflects our ongoing commitment to enhance the capabilities of teachers and ensuring that no child is left behind, regardless of their abilities,” he said.

The programme aims to promote a holistic approach to teaching that accommodates the diverse needs of students while fostering a supportive, inclusive school culture. By the end of the training, participants will have acquired practical skills and strategies to integrate inclusive practices into their daily teaching routines.

The training is being held at both the DIET Doda campus and Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Girls Doda, providing an opportunity for educators to exchange ideas and collaborate. The programme is expected to play a key role in strengthening the education system at the grassroots level.

Through the NISHTHA initiative, SCERT JK Divisional Office Jammu and DIETs aim to bring about sustainable improvements in teaching methodologies, ultimately enhancing the quality of education for students across Jammu and Kashmir.
