UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 17: A Regional Investor seminar-cum-awareness Programme was organized by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) in collaboration with the district administration Udhampur.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Prem Singh graced the occasion as the chief guest. The programme was attended by PO Poshan, Subash Dogra, Chief Planning Officer, Uttam Singh and other district officers from various departments.
At the outset, DGM SEBI, B. K. Gupta gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation highlighting the functioning and regulatory role of SEBI. He elaborated on key aspects of the securities market, investment planning, financial management and the importance of investor awareness. The session also covered SEBI’s grievance redressal mechanism, safeguards against Ponzi schemes, retirement planning strategies, tax-related investment planning and essential do’s and don’ts for investors.
He further sensitised the participants about the growing threats of online scams, bank and credit card frauds, data breaches and OTP-related cyber frauds, urging them to remain cautious and vigilant while conducting digital financial transactions.
While addressing the gathering, the ADC appreciated the proactive efforts of SEBI and NSE in organising such an informative seminar. He urged the concerned to conduct more such awareness programmes in the district in the near future for the benefit of the general public. Emphasising the need for financial prudence and digital responsibility, he called upon participants to maintain a balanced digital lifestyle and stay alert against misinformation, disinformation and fake narratives.
