POONCH, DECEMBER 20: The School Education Department, Poonch today organised a one-day seminar on the theme “Five Years of NEP 2020: Achievements, Challenges and the Road Ahead”, with special focus on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) and Skill Education here at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS).
The seminar was formally inaugurated by the Chief Education Officer (CEO), Mukhtar Manhas, who lit the traditional lamp, marking the commencement of the programme.
The programme began with the National Anthem, followed by a welcome address by the school Principal, Anjuman Shaheen, who highlighted the significance of NEP 2020 in transforming school education.
An overview of NEP 2020 was presented by Senior Lecturer Haroon Rathore, setting the context for the technical sessions. Expert speakers deliberated on the thematic areas of the policy.
Ajay Maini spoke on Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) and Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN), while Harish Kumar Sharma highlighted strategies for curtailing dropout rates and ensuring universal access, equity and inclusion.
Further sessions included deliberations by Tariq Chugtai on holistic, integrated, enjoyable and engaging curriculum and pedagogy. Darshan Kumar spoke on teachers, efficient resourcing and effective governance through school complexes and clusters.
Skill Education as envisaged under NEP 2020 was elaborated by Principal GHSS Boys Mandi Anwar Khan.
In his keynote address, CEO, Mukhtar Manhas emphasised the effective and time-bound implementation of NEP 2020 particularly in the areas of FLN and skill education. He underlined the collective role of all stakeholders—teachers, school heads, administrators and the community in realising the goals of the policy and transforming classrooms into centres of meaningful learning.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the Principal HSS Chandimarh, Mohammad Sabar, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, speakers and participants for making the seminar a success.
