Senior Citizens Awareness Programme held at Uri under NAPSrC

BARAMULLA, MARCH 10: An awareness programme under the National Action Plan for Senior Citizens (NAPSrC) was successfully organized by the Tehsil Social Welfare Office Uri at Town Hall Lagama, Uri.

The programme aimed to sensitize senior citizens about various welfare schemes, their legal rights, and facilities available to ensure their well-being, dignity, and social security.

A large number of senior citizens from different areas of Tehsil Uri participated in the programme with keen interest and enthusiasm.

The event served as an important platform for disseminating information regarding government welfare initiatives, healthcare facilities, and legal safeguards available for the protection and welfare of elderly citizens.

On the occasion, the Sub Judge Uri attended the programme as the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering. In his address, he elaborated on the legal rights of senior citizens and emphasized the importance of awareness regarding protections guaranteed under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.

He urged the elderly participants to remain informed about various government schemes so that they can effectively avail the benefits meant for their welfare.

Speaking on the occasion, Social Welfare Officer Uri, also addressed the participants and provided detailed information about various welfare schemes being implemented by the Social Welfare Department for the benefit of senior citizens. She encouraged the elderly participants to avail themselves of these schemes and assured them of full support and cooperation from the department in facilitating access to available services.

Officials and representatives from the Health Department, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Uri Court, and Sub-District Hospital Uri also participated in the programme and shared valuable insights regarding healthcare services, safety and security measures, and legal assistance available to senior citizens.

The programme concluded with an interactive session where senior citizens raised various concerns and queries related to their welfare and entitlements. The officials present responded to their issues and provided necessary guidance and clarification.

The participants appreciated the initiative and described the programme as informative and beneficial for the elderly community.
