BARAMULLA, APRIL 22: The Division of Agriculture Extension & Communication, Faculty of Agriculture-Wadura, in collaboration with the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, celebrated Earth Day 2025 with great enthusiasm and commitment to environmental awareness.

The event, themed ‘Our Power, Our Planet,’ brought together undergraduate and postgraduate students for a series of engaging and thought-provoking activities aimed at promoting sustainability and climate consciousness.

The celebration featured a range of competitions including Quiz, Debate, Essay Writing, Painting and Videography, all designed to spark critical thinking and creativity among students. These events served as a platform for students to reflect on environmental challenges, showcase their talents, and express their commitment to building a greener future.

The competitions were evaluated by a panel of faculty members and environmental experts who appreciated the participants’ innovative ideas and deep understanding of ecological issues.

Winners were awarded trophies, certificates, and eco-friendly prizes, while all participants received recognition for their valuable contributions.

In his keynote address, Prof. M. He remarked that the day’s events not only highlighted student potential but also underscored the essential role of agriculture in shaping a sustainable future.

The event also featured a pledge-taking ceremony led by Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina, during which students and faculty committed to adopting sustainable practices in both academic and personal domains.

Among others, Joint Director Planning Baramulla, Javid Ahmad; Chief Agriculture Officer Baramulla, DFO Langate, and Tehsildar Bomai Sopore were present on the occasion.
